This type of thinking.....

Change.... is inevitable. Whether we want change or not it's going to happen. Even if the stats quo is perfect, we might as well prepare for it because it's going to happen. But why? Why can't things stay the same? I mean doesn't the old adage of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" hold any truth? The answer, as you might have guessed is no. And if you want a scapegoat to blame it on, look no further than yourself. But if we put so much effort into keeping things the way they are, how do we cause change to happen in our lives? I believe it's our curiosity that turns the tide of our lives and throws normal into disarray. As I watched the sun set over the gulf tonight, I was treated to a cloud formation silhouetted by a bright orange sky. The cloud way outpaced my gaze as it the base dropped below the horizon. I started to think what was over the horizon, what it would be like to chase the sun. To drop everything and go. To leave it all behind and see where I end up. Now that would be an unrealistic drastic change but it's this type of thinking that changes our lives. It's this thought process that causes to think, maybe there is a little better way. Maybe I'm missing out on something. As a surfer there is always the thought in the back of your head that there could be a better wave down the beach somewhere. One day I went with that thought and went chasing a better wave and ended up surfing with a guy who introduced me to some people that then introduced me to some more people that then introduced me to some more people and because of going with a thought of change, my life WAS changed and now I know the greatest people in PC and I can't even imagine this place without them.
How you ride this slippery slope of life is up to you. What you think is a sure fire change like moving to a different city ten hours away from home could leave you lonely and stuck in the same habits and ruts you thought you left just to find some sense of normalcy. While the smallest decisions with the most benign of intentions like making the change from Crest to Colgate to really stepping out there and choosing Aquafresh could maybe give you that little extra bit of shine which could possibly catch the eye of the love of your life??????.....I'm just saying. Think about the change that would bring about. What I'm saying is that no matter how hard we try to fight it, change is going to happen so we might as well roll with it, find out what's on the other side of the sun, see what happens, and then tell the story of our adventures to our soon to be new friends with really white teeth.
